Rosé of BLACKPINK Ready to Join The Black Label

Rosé Considers Exclusive Contract with Label Founded by Teddy Park

BEDADU - Rose, a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, is in talks with The Black Label, a record company founded by producer Teddy Park, to sign an exclusive contract.

"We are discussing the contract issue," said The Black Label on Monday, after a local media reported that Rose would embark on a new chapter as a solo artist under The Black Label.

The Black Label is an affiliate company of YG Entertainment, which debuted BLACKPINK in 2016. The founder of The Black Label, Teddy Park, began his career in the late 1990s with the hip-hop group 1TYM and later became a composer and producer, writing a series of hits including "Whistle" (2016) and "Shut Down" (2023) for BLACKPINK. Currently, The Black Label represents artists such as Taeyang from the boy group BIGBANG, solo artist Jeon So-mi, and actor Park Bo-gum, among others.

As part of BLACKPINK, Rose has embarked on a musical journey with Teddy Park for almost a decade, during which Park produced most of the quartet's mega-hits. In the 2020 Netflix documentary "BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky," Rose introduced Teddy Park as the "fifth member" of the group.

"He is a producer who listens to our stories, captures new directions, and leads us well," Rose commented in the video.

In December, all four members of BLACKPINK — Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa — renewed their contracts with YG as a group, but none of them extended their contracts individually. Jisoo collaborated with her brother to establish a new agency, BLISSOO. Jennie and Lisa also founded their own companies named Odd Atelier (OA) and LLOUD. This strategic move is believed to give them more artistic freedom as they pursue their solo careers.

BLACKPINK has just completed their second world tour — the largest world tour ever for a K-pop girl group, attracting around 1.8 million concertgoers worldwide — generating an estimated revenue of $260 million. The four members of the group also continue to solidify their presence individually, with each member having over 70 million followers on social media channels. ***
